Where are you located?
The PDC is located in the Cotton District of Starkville, Mississppi near the campus of Mississippi State University. Our physical address is 104c Rue du Grand. Our office is at street-level. The entrance is located in the courtyard.
Why are you moving to Portland,Oregon?
The Director and Assistant Director of the PDC are a married couple, Clifton Burt and Kate Bingaman-Burt. Kate will be joining the faculty of Portland State University as an assistant professor in the graphic design program in the fall of 2008. We have been honored to serve the community of Mississippi for the past four years and look forward to the challenges of serving an urban environment.
Can I be an intern at the PDC?
We're not accepting interns at this time. However, we will be seeking interns beginning the summer of 2009 in Portland, OR. More will be posted about this once we know more. If you have an interest in interning at the PDC, the best thing you can do is email us about a semester beforehand.
What services do you offer?
The PDC engages in several ongoing programs. Currently, our series of one-hour clinics is providing local residents with the skills to improve their communication materials. Similiarly, each workday we provide 2 hours of drop-in consulting in which anyone is welcome to bring their materials in for consultation and recommendations. We are working diligently to improve our current serives and to build further programming. You might like to look at our projects page to learn more.
How are you funded?
At this time, our funding is limited to donations. We're currently identifying appropriate funding relationships for the Center. This includes grant funding and corporate sponsorship.
Will the PDC design my (x) for me?
Our major focus, at this time, is to provide you with the tools and knowledge to produce your communication materials or refer you to an appropriate service provider.
